MELBOURNE SKA ORCHESTRA

And just like that the Melbourne Ska Orchestra turns 20 Years Young!

From the fun loving humble beginnings in St. Kilda to the international stages of Glastonbury, Istanbul, Montreal, Edinburgh, New York and beyond, the band has steered their ramshackle train into the hearts of many.

Initially formed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the birth of Ska (1963-2003), their infectious energy soon earned them a coveted slot at Bluesfest and WOMADelaide, a recording contract and accolades from all over the world. Two ARIA award wins cemented their reputation as one of Australia’s best live acts, while three of their songs were chosen for a UK feature film about Ska.

The band have matched the appreciation with a work ethic that is second to none. To date they have released 7 albums, including a nigh impossible mission of recording a song a week for a whole year, the ARIA award winning 52 Fridays - One Year of Ska.

This record celebrates the first 20-year chapter of a journey that is still going strong.

To celebrate 20 years of Melbourne Ska Orchestra, the band is releasing a limited edition Best of Vinyl and hitting the road to bring their signature International Big Band Ska Sound to stages across the country.

Melbourne Ska Orchestra will be firing up the stage on Saturday.

FELICITY URQUHART & JOSH CUNNINGHAM

The amazing duo of Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham (of The Waifs) will be gracing the stage with their beautiful sounds.

Between them they have a collective haul of Golden Guitars, ARIA Awards, multi-platinum album sales and extensive touring over nearly three decades, that serves as a readymade conventional definition of success. But there are many ways in which success can be defined, and when the irresistible forces of music and love brought Felicity and Josh together, they set in motion something wildly successful and truly special.

Joyous and uncontrived, their music translates seamlessly from album to stage, with masterful musicianship on a humble array of guitars and banjo’s providing the perfect vehicle to transport their exquisite songwriting directly to the heart.

The pairing is unexpected, the songs unforgettable and the aura unique. Untaintedby the demands of fashion, Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham are able to bewho they are in an unpretentious way that description cannot fully capture andexperience alone can convey. The song Club story and sound is arrestingly beautiful and quite unlike anything else.

Felicity and Josh will be bringing their music to the stage on Sunday.
